CIRCUS IN UNDRESS BEATS A REAL SHOW; The Trapeze Performer Looks as If He Might Chance to Slip. CLOWNS' SILENT REHEARSAL That's a Funny Effect -- So Are Circus Queen and Ringmaster In Mufti. (March 21, 1907)

There was a circus performance in Madison Square Garden yesterday morning such as will not be repeated until the show returns to New York on its next annual tour. In many ways there is no other performance which equals it in interest, and yet it was given to an absolutely empty house. Act for act, stunt for stunt, it was the same circus that the public sees, but with this big difference - it was in negligee. There were no spangles, no gauze, no tinsel, no glare, and glitter. And can you imagine a real circus stripped of these?
